The University of Massachusetts Boston seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in School Psychology to begin September 1, 2017. Ideal candidates will demonstrate an active record of scholarly productivity, extramural research funding, effective teaching, and service.

Candidates are expected to contribute to both the MEd/EdS and PhD Programs in School Psychology. The School Psychology program at UMass Boston has a long-standing specialist-level program that adheres to a model encompassing all domains of practice including collaborative consultation, provision of prevention and intervention strategies, and assessment leading to effective interventions under a departmental and university social justice mission. With a focus on urban practice, the program has opportunities for university-school collaborations related to research and practice with large districts serving diverse populations. The specialist- level program has been NASP approved since 1981.

The School Psychology Program began offering PhD-level training in 2012 and received full APA accreditation in 2016, with the next site visit scheduled for 2023. This full-time, scientist-practitioner program prepares students to deliver evidence-based services in school and community settings, apply advanced research skills to educational and psychological issues, and understand contextual, policy, and social justice issues related to diversity and educational disparities at local and transnational levels. This program, which currently has 13 students, was built in collaboration with a Counseling Psychology PhD program that also received full APA accreditation in 2016.

The School Psychology Program is housed in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology within the College of Education and Human Development (http://www.umb.edu/academics/cehd). The Department houses 17 full-time faculty, and serves approximately 260 graduate students working toward degrees in school counseling, mental health counseling, family therapy, school psychology, and counseling psychology. Our long- standing commitment to diversity and social justice is evident in the curriculum we offer and the scholarship we encourage. The department supports a broad range of scholarly endeavors and has produced nationally recognized scholars.
