Position: Assistant/Associate Professor, School Psychology, Tampa, Florida. Position #6685. This is a 9 month, full- time, tenured or tenure track position with the opportunity for additional summer contract. The position begins August 7, 2017.

The School Psychology Program offers Ed.S. and Ph.D. degrees. The doctoral program is accredited by the American Psychological Association and both the specialist and doctoral programs are approved by the National Association of School Psychologists. The program reflects a scientist-practitioner training philosophy in preparing school psychologists who emphasize evidence-based practices within an ecological problem-solving framework. The faculty are productive researchers and scholars and are actively involved at all levels of the profession. Position Description:

Major responsibilities include: teaching courses at the specialist and doctoral levels in areas such as data-based problem- solving in areas of both academic and behavior, behavior theory and learning, instructional design, early childhood, professional practices or other areas of interest to the applicant; securing external funding to support research and training agendas; advising, supervising and mentoring students; supervising thesis and dissertation research; developing and maintaining an active program of research and scholarship; and contributing to the mission of the program, department, college and university.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

An earned doctorate in School, Clinical, or Counseling Psychology (from an APA-accredited program) as of the date of employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •   A graduate degree in School Psychology
  •   Evidence of securing external funding (Associate) or evidence of experience with writing and submitting grant applications (Assistant)
  •   A program of research and scholarly work commensurate with the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor
  •   Evidence of teaching excellence in higher education
  •   Demonstrated experience or potential for mentoring and supervising dissertation and thesis research as well as professional practices and behavior
  •   Training, research, and practice in comprehensive problem solving, linking assessment to intervention, and intervention development and evaluation
  •   Expertise in academic skills assessment/intervention
  •   Experience as a psychologist in an educational setting
  •   Experience with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations
  •   Evidence of the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
  •   Hold or be eligible for and willing to seek licensure as a psychologist in the State of Florida
