The Office of Psychological Services, Baltimore City Public Schools (City Schools), invites applications for full-time internships in School Psychology from graduate students who are enrolled in a master’s, specialists, or doctoral program in school psychology. We are a large, urban school district that affords intern school psychologists opportunities to develop competencies in a broad range of school- based mental health services in support of educational success for all students. Our internship program is predicated on a developmental scientist-practitioner model. The intern school psychologist typically works under direct clinical supervision of an experienced practitioner, in the same school building, to provide counseling and other therapeutic interventions for students; conduct formal psychological assessments for educational planning and placement; and consult with City School staff, parents, and community-based service providers. Based on needs and interests of the intern, and on requirements of specific universities, specialized experiences can be integrated into the internship. The internship incorporates rotations so that all interns will work with students with low incidence disabilities. The department is invested in staff involvement in research, leadership, and writing, and involved at the local, state, and national level in school psychology organizations. Several long-term projects can provide additional experiences. Our pre-doctoral candidates are supervised by a licensed psychologist.

The internship begins in mid-August 2017 and concludes in mid- June 2018. Compensation includes a stipend of $25,000. Upon successful completion of training and fulfillment of requirements for Maryland certification, intern school psychologists receive preferential consideration for employment as school psychologists with Baltimore City Public Schools.
