The University of Denver’s Morgridge College of Education (MCE) invites applications for a nine-month tenure track faculty appointment in Research Methods and Statistics (RMS) at the rank of Assistant Professor. The RMS program offers a master’s and doctoral degree and is one of several academic programs in the Morgridge College of Education (MCE) that currently enrolls about 800 students in its 24 degree (MA/MLIS, EdS, and PhD), licensure, and certificate programs. More than 9,000 MCE graduates live throughout the U.S. and the world.

The MCE is located in Katherine A. Ruffatto Hall, a 65,000 square foot complex built in 2010 providing a flexible, innovative, and multidisciplinary learning environment. The facility allows for ongoing dialogue with community, national, and global partners as we enter a transformational era in education. The facility features state-of-the-art technology including interactive white boards and flat-panel displays throughout, two TelePresence videoconferencing systems, and a Voice-over Internet Protocol (VO IP) integrated communications system.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will play a strong role in teaching, research, and service. Specific responsibilities include: teaching graduate courses such as program evaluation theory, program evaluation practice, and community-based research, as well as applied statistics and quantitative research methods courses in a learner-centered program, and supervising master’s theses and doctoral dissertations in program evaluation, quantitative and mixed designs, and quantitative data analysis. The successful candidate will also serve as the academic adviser to assigned RMS students and participate in program and college committees and professional service as appropriate. There is an expectation for pursuing grants and other external funding opportunities. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The appointment will commence on September 1, 2017.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in research methods, program evaluation, or a related field, or will have completed such a degree by the September 1, 2017 start date
  • An articulated teaching agenda with a focus on program evaluation and mixed methods
  • An active research agenda and/or active program of research with a focus on program evaluation and mixed methods
  • Relevant research/teaching expertise in one or more of the other MCE departments: Counseling Psychology, Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Higher Education, and Teaching and Learning Sciences
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to or experience working with diverse populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of participation in grants and/or managing funded projects
  • Evidence of an excellent academic record of teaching graduate level program evaluation and mixed methods courses
  • Publication in appropriate journals
  • Experience developing community partnerships
  • Evidence of advising and mentoring graduate students
