The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is seeking a school psychologist for a visiting position in our APA-accredited and NASP-approved doctoral training program, to begin fall 2017. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to our doctoral school psychology program.
Primary responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, advisement, and practicum supervision. The program is based on the scientist-practitioner model with a strong behavioral orientation. The school psychology program also supports a master’s program in applied behavior analysis. The emphasis-area in ABA includes a curriculum sequence and intensive practicum experience approved by the BACB. Research and applied interests are open but should be consistent with a behavioral school psychology approach. The position is contingent upon funding.
The school psychology program has been fully and continuously APA-accredited since 1983 and NASP approved since 1981. The Department of Psychology, designated as one of six Centers of Excellence by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, is a growing and dynamic department, with 35 full-time faculty lines and approximately 630 undergraduate majors and 115 graduate students. It is located in Hattiesburg, MS, a prosperous and growing sunbelt community about 70 miles from the Gulf Coast and about 100 miles from New Orleans. The department also offers APA-accredited programs in clinical and counseling psychology, as well as a program in brain and behavior psychology.
