Major/Essential Functions:
1) To teach courses in the BCBA approved course sequence
2) To supervise educational professionals completing their BCBA supervised experience through the Burkhart Center.
3) To conduct empirical evaluations of the impact of the BCBA training program on both the quality of instruction of the participating educational professionals, but also on the students with autism they serve.
4) To engage in community/school-based research that furthers the College of Education emphasis on working collaboratively with partners to discover opportunities, solve problems, and create meaningful outcomes in society.
Candidates who have very strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. Service duties include program-building, as well as commitment to extra-curricular activities. Service to the department, college, university, and community is expected.
Required Qualifications:
Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity
Preferred Qualifications:
1) An earned Ph.D. in Special Education, Educational Psychology or related field from an accredited college/university.
2) BCBA certification.
3) Experience designing and implementing programs for individuals with autism in the public schools. 4) Experience supervising and training professionals or practicum students in clinical or classroom settings. 5) Familiarity with the process of securing and managing externally-funded projects and a track record of obtaining grant funding is preferred, but not required.
6) A focused research agenda.
