POSITION TITLE: Assistant Professor of Psychology
POSITION STATUS: FT (9-month), tenure-track
JOB SUMMARY:With consultation of the Behavioral and Social Sciences Department Chairperson and/or the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences (SOLAS), an Assistant Professor of Psychology is responsible for various tasks:
- Providing instruction at the undergraduate and graduate level
- This includes developing syllabi prior to the beginning of the semester, teaching classes, and consistently assessing students’ understanding of content and skill mastery
- Carrying an advising load, as assigned by the department chairperson
- Maintaining at least 8 office hours per week, and post these at the beginning of each semester
- Following the Boyer Model for scholarship
- Serving the University in various capacities (e.g., committees)
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chairperson or Dean, School of Liberal Arts and Sciences
- Adhere to all university academic and employment policies identified in the Employee and Faculty handbooks and academic catalogs

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Doctoral degree in School Psychology with licensure preferred
- Doctoral degree (e.g., PhD or PsyD) in related areas of Psychology considered
Experience
- Experience working as a faculty member in higher education preferred
- Experience working as a school psychologist preferred
Knowledge and Skills
- Demonstrates an understanding of educational theory, instructional methods, evaluation techniques, and use of technology typically utilized in higher education in a classroom setting
- Demonstrates analytical and organizational skills necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate educational activities to assure compliance with established teaching goals and objectives
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills, verbal and written, necessary to interact effectively with all university constituents
- Works with a broad group of interests from the various stakeholders
- Conducts and/or participates in research with colleagues, students, and/or community stakeholders
Licenses or certifications
- School Psychology licensure preferred
- Licensed Psychologist with HSPP in Indiana preferred
