The Department of Educational Studies at the University of Alabama invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position beginning August 2021. Minimum qualifications include (1) a doctoral degree from an APA and/or NASP accredited school psychology program, and (2) eligibility for certification as a school psychologist and/or licensure as a psychologist in Alabama and commitment to obtain these state credentials if hired. We are seeking candidates with a background in behavioral intervention and a commitment to diversity and culturally responsive practice. Certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is preferred. At the assistant professor level: candidates should have evidence of, or clear potential for, a comprehensive and sustained agenda of research, scholarship, and grants in school psychology. At the associate professor level: candidates should have an established record of a comprehensive and sustained agenda of research, scholarship, and grants in school psychology, and an interest in taking a leadership role in the ongoing development, evaluation, and improvement of the School Psychology Program.

The University of Alabama is located in West Alabama and is 45 minutes southwest of Birmingham, AL. Tuscaloosa, a quintessential college town with a population of 101,113, has excellent recreational, educational, and cultural opportunities available. The Tuscaloosa area provides hiking, biking, and running trails, as well as playgrounds, parks, and dog parks to enjoy the outdoors. Lake Tuscaloosa, Lake Nicol and Lake Lurleen offer sporting and leisure activities. Tuscaloosa is within driving distance of Atlanta, Nashville, New Orleans, Memphis, and the beaches of Gulf Shores. Tuscaloosa is also home to the Alabama Museum of Natural History, The Bryant Museum, Children’s Hands-On Museum, Moundville Archaeological Park, multiple sporting events, concerts hosted at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater, and several festivals (West Alabama Food & Wine Festival, Druid City Arts Festival, Kentuck Arts Festival).
