The Department of Psychology at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August, 2020. The successful candidate will join a department with 34 faculty members as the sixth faculty member affiliated with the School Psychology Programs. Responsibilities include maintaining an independent program of scholarly research; teaching graduate and undergraduate courses; advising graduate students and serving on thesis and dissertation committees; and providing service to the department, university, community, and profession.

The School Psychology Programs at CMU are grounded in the scientist-practitioner tradition. Our Specialist Program is NASP-approved and our Doctoral Program is APA-accredited and NASP-approved. The Department of Psychology at CMU houses graduate programs in applied experimental psychology, clinical psychology, industrial-organizational psychology, and school psychology. We have a robust undergraduate program with over 700 majors. CMU is located in Mount Pleasant, Michigan and has a student body of nearly 22,000 students. CMU is a doctoral university with “high research activity” according to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.

Required Qualifications:

  • Earned doctorate in school psychology (or related field) by time of appointment.
  • Evidence of or potential for an independent program of scholarly research related to school psychology.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Doctorate in school psychology from an APA-accredited program.
  • Licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in Michigan.
  • Experience teaching and advising at the graduate level.
  • Evidence of or potential for securing external research funding.
