We are pleased to announce that we are continuing our pediatric psychology post-doctoral fellowship program in integrated primary care! We are seeking to hire a new fellow to join our team!

The Pediatric BHIP fellowship focuses on providing direct care and training within Montefiore’s network of primary care practices in the Bronx, New York. Montefiore serves pediatric patients from ethnic minority, economically disadvantaged, and linguistically diverse families.

Montefiore is the first NYC health system to earn Distinction in Behavioral Health Integration from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), one of the nation’s highest honors for treating behavioral needs in primary care settings.

The objective of the Pediatric BHIP fellowship is to prepare newly graduated psychologists to work in the primary care setting, treating children across the pediatric lifespan (infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and emerging adults) within underserved communities. Fellows will provide clinical services in our primary care clinics three days per week, with an additional two days focused on training and research activities. As a result of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, BHIP’s behavioral health services are a blend of both in-person and telehealth services.

Fellows will be trained to conduct warm handoffs using motivational interviewing, short problem-focused assessment, and brief evidence-based intervention to address depression, anxiety, ADHD/disruptive behaviors, and trauma. Additionally, fellows will provide developmental and behavioral consultation to families of infants and toddlers, through our attachment- and trauma-informed HealthySteps program. There will be an opportunity for at least 1 fellow to engage in research and clinical work with our OB/GYN clinic for a groundbreaking multidisciplinary approach for preventive behavioral healthcare, with the possibility of obtaining certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C). There will also be opportunities for training of master’s level psychology students, as well as medical students and residents. Fellows also participate in our Staff Emotional Support (SES) team to respond to incidents of work-related trauma and stress, promoting the wellness of Montefiore Medical Center staff and associates. Additional fellow responsibilities include participation in didactics, team meetings, and training of psychology assistants, medical students, and pediatric residents.

REQUIRED: Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical, counseling, or school psychology. Successful candidates will have completed their internship and all degree requirements by the start of fellowship.
