SASP Publications
SASP has a history of connecting school psychology students to Division 16 and to each other. Prior to 2008, the Division 16 student officers would circulate a newsletter to all SASP chapters relaying student news, as well as news from APA and Division 16. The focus in Summer 2008 was to increase the newsletter to feature more student writing and provide an outlet for up-and-coming school psychologists to publish scholarly work. In Summer 2009, the periodical was officially re-named From Science to Practice. While the Communication Chair oversaw From Science to Practice, the 2012 SASP Board added an Editor and Co-Editor position to oversee the publication 3-4 times each year while the Communications Liaison oversaw other SASP communication outlets. In 2014, the periodical was renamed From Science to Practice to Policy to reflect the broader scope which the periodical was starting to cover (However, the title was changed to From Science to Practice AND Policy by the end of 2016). Editions of SASP publications between 2008 and 2016 can be viewed below in the archives.
In 2017, the Division 16 board facilitated an important transition for SASP. From Science to Practice and Policy was incorporated into a section of the regular Division 16 publication The School Psychologist. The Editor now became part of the Edtiorial Board for The School Psychologist and worked with the Editor-Elect to set up a section called The Student Corner. This transition helped integrate SASP better into Division 16 as student writing helped connect the students more with the rest of Division 16. Alexandria Mulgrew of University of Minnesota was the inaugural SASP Editor who published the first section of The Student Corner in Fall 2018.
Today, SASP sends out a regular monthly newsletter to all SASP member chapters. The newsletter is distributed by Eric Field, SASP Communications Liaison. To contribute short features about SASP members and chapters, contact him at saspweb@gmail.com.
