The Department of Counseling and School Psychology in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Massachusetts Boston invites applications for a full time Non-Tenure-Track Lecturer in School Psychology, beginning September 1, 2015.

Candidates will be expected to contribute to both the MEd/EdS and PhD programs in School Psychology. The School Psychology program at UMass Boston has a long-standing specialist-level program that adheres to a model encompassing all domains of practice including collaborative consultation, provision of prevention and intervention strategies, and assessment leading to effective interventions. With a focus on urban practice, the program has opportunities for university-school collaborations serving diverse populations. The specialist-level program has been NASP approved since 1981.

In the fall of 2012, the School Psychology program began offering doctoral-level training to enhance the research and clinical experiences of graduates. This full-time scientist-practitioner program prepares students as they learn critical inquiry strategies to address systemic barriers that interfere with academic and social success. This program, which currently has 10 students, is built in collaboration with a Counseling Psychology PhD program. It also is organized to meet APA accreditation standards and intends to undergo the review process during the next academic year.

The School Psychology Program is housed in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology within the College of Education and Human Development, http://www.umb.edu/academics/cehd. The Department houses 17 full-time faculty, and serves approximately 325 graduate students working toward degrees in school counseling, mental health counseling, family therapy, school psychology, and counseling psychology. The department is part of the College of Education and Human Development; for more information on our department and degree programs visit our website at http://www.umb.edu/academics/cehd/counseling. Our long-standing commitment to diversity and social justice is evident in the curriculum we offer and the scholarship we engage in. UMass Boston serves a diverse urban student population with a high proportion of racial and ethnic minorities, students from immigrant backgrounds, and students who are the first in their families to go to college.

Candidates must have a doctoral degree in School Psychology and hold or be eligible for school psychology certification and/or psychology licensure in Massachusetts. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience applying the National Association of School Psychologist (NASP) Practice Model, evidence-based practice, data-based decision making, and social justice frameworks in their field experience. Candidates must have a record of effective teaching and clinical supervision.
