Job Summary:

The Director will oversee all clinical, administrative, and research activities for the Center.  S/he has responsibility the provision of quality psychological services to the community and, in conjunction with the Clinical and School Psychology Graduate Programs, assuring the provision of appropriate training for Psychology graduate students.

Responsibilities:

  • Formulate policy for the daily operations of the Center and maintain procedures for accomplishing these goals.  Establish and maintain systems necessary for the daily operation of the Center, including space allocation, front desk operation, and student and supervisor communication.  Codify these policies and procedures in the Center Policy and Procedures Manual. Train staff and students in Center goals, policies, and procedures.
  • Cooperate with the Clinical and School Programs and the Department in facilitating training and service provision and aiding in the accomplishment of university, departmental and program initiatives, including evidence-based practice.
  • Insure the integrity of training of Clinical and School Psychology graduate students at the Center via monitoring of student hours, notes, and supervisory documentation.
  • Establish relationships with agencies in the community in order to publicize services available at the Center and to recruit clients appropriate for services provided in a training clinic.
  • Oversee the performance of Center personnel and insure the completion of annual evaluations for Center staff and administrators.
  • Oversee all financial and operations matters at the Center by anticipating the needs of the Center, submitting annual budgets, reviewing and approving purchases and check requisitions, and overseeing building management.
  • Promote Center activities by working with the SJU Marketing and Communications Department, Web Digest, and media advertising; facilitate publishing of Center brochures and formal outreach literature.
  • Support the Center’s Director of Research in facilitating the Center’s research function.
  • Supervise Center fellows and the undergraduate interns.
  • Oversee the Faculty Practice operation at the Center.
  • Regularly provide data to program and departmental leadership as to meeting center client and financial objectives.  Summarize the yearly functioning of the Center in an Annual Report submitted to the Chair of the Psychology Department.
  • Interface with other programs and departments within the university (e.g. Child HELP Partnership, Speech and Hearing, Facilities, IT, Public Safety, etc.) and outside the university (e.g. A/V vendor) as needed to address problems and accomplish improvements.
  • Insure that the Center’s functioning is in keeping with the University’s Vincentian Mission.

Qualifications:

  • Licensure as Psychologist in New York State
  • Experience in the delivery of psychological services
  • Experience in the supervision of doctoral candidates in School and/or Clinical Psychology
  • Experience in administration of a mental health program
  • At least 5 years of experience since the terminal degree (PhD or PsyD in Clinical or school psychology)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with professional staff, faculty, and students and fellow administrators
  • Dedication to the Vincentian and global missions of the University

This position is subject to a comprehensive background screen, with employment contingent upon satisfactory results. If access to a University vehicle is required for the position, a DMV check for driving record and valid driver’s license is also required.

This position is a grade R.  The salary minimum for this grade is $72,000, the midpoint is $102,800 and the maximum salary for this position is $133,600.  Compensation is commensurate with your qualifications and experience and contingent upon the departmental budget.
