The School Psychology Program at The University of Arizona (Tucson, Arizona) is currently accepting applications for a full-time tenure track position of assistant or associate professor, School Psychology Program, with a start date of August 15, 2016. The program offers an Educational Specialist degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree, with the Ph.D. degree program accredited by both the American Psychological Association and the National Association of School Psychologists.
Responsibilities:
- Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, as assigned.
- Conduct research in school psychology.
- Secure external funding for research program, on an ongoing basis.
- Participate in advising and mentoring students, directing and supervising dissertations,
and supervise students in field placements.
- Collaborate with and provide guidance and leadership to faculty and students within the
school psychology program.
- Work activities will primarily be performed on campus, but may also include distance
education.
- Engage in community service and outreach activities.
- Provide service to the academic and professional community.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in School Psychology or closely related field.
- Demonstrated and ongoing research program, including publications appropriate for
appointment at a research intensive institution.
- Ability to direct and supervise dissertation research in the field of school psychology.
- Strong potential for securing external funding for research program.
- Evidence of strong leadership skills.
- Licensed psychologist or eligible for licensure in the State of Arizona.
- State of Arizona certification or eligible for State of Arizona certification as a school
psychologist.
- Additional qualifications for the tenured position: Established record of obtaining external funding, established record of teaching and mentoring graduate students, and established record of local/state/national level services.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in psychological assessment of children and adolescents, research design, mental health, or neuropsychology; full consideration will be given to strong candidates in other areas as well.
- Preference will be given to someone who completed an APA accredited internship
- History of leadership positions in national psychology and/or school psychology professional organizations.
About the Department: The program is housed in the Department of Disability and Psychoeducational Studies within the College of Education. The program is growing and is fully committed to playing a key role in addressing the needs of school districts in the surrounding community, as well as impacting the provision of school psychology services on a national and global level. Faculty members engage in applied research that can directly inform practice and address the needs of children, adolescents, school personnel, and policy-makers.

This includes the delivery of psychological assessment, consultation, and intervention services that are aimed at supporting student’s mental health, emotional well-being, and fostering supportive learning environments. Program faculty have ongoing research projects in areas such as school mental health, academic outcomes for children with chronic health conditions, early identification and intervention for childhood emotional and behavioral concerns, bullying, and juvenile justice, among others.
