The Missouri Prevention Center and the Department of Educational, School & Counseling Psychology in the College of Education at the University of Missouri are pleased to offer two post-doctoral positions for the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Research and Training program, funded by the U.S. Department of Education.

The purpose of this IES Interdisciplinary Postdoctoral Research Training program is to prepare education researchers to conduct high-quality, independent research that advances the knowledge base in the education sciences and addresses issues important to education leaders, policymakers and practitioners. To achieve this aim, the research and training program will provide fellows with the substantive and methodological training needed to become competent, independent education science researchers, emphasizing the skills needed to conceptualize and execute rigorous research designs and analyses that support causal inference. Specific research projects will be based upon the joint interests of the fellow and their faculty mentor(s).

Fellows in this unique program will receive rigorous interdisciplinary training in substantive areas focused on identifying and evaluating effective teaching practices for supporting student social, emotional, and academic outcomes and optimal training models to disseminate these practices. Faculty mentors with expertise in these areas will work closely with each fellow to support their professional development as emerging educational scientists. Additionally, fellows will be immersed in a rich training environment that includes opportunities to work with scholars from a range of related fields including school psychology, special education, educational statistics and methodology, educational leadership, social work, and counseling psychology.

We are recruiting two fellows to begin in the fall of 2016. Completed and ongoing research projects that Fellows may interface with, depending on skills and interests, include two group randomized evaluations of classroom management training programs, a developmental project focused on a web-based teacher consultation model, measurement development projects, development of tools for using propensity score methods with complex survey data, and a county-wide school mental health surveillance and intervention model. The positions will also afford the fellow opportunities for mentoring and training in prevention and education sciences, grant-writing and administration, and publishing. Opportunities for clinical experiences and supervision from licensed psychologists are possible for interested Fellows.
