Addicta: The Turkish Journal on Addictions, a biannual, peer-reviewed journal published by the Turkish Green Crescent Society, will publish a special issue in December 2016 focusing on “Internet Addiction.

Addicta: The Turkish Journal on Addictions is an international scientific journal for the publication of research and studies encompassing all aspects of addiction and related disorders. It represents an interdisciplinary forum for the exchange of recent data and emerging expert opinions. Furthermore, it reflects the significance of designing a comprehensive approach for resolving the challenges with regard to substance abuse and addiction in Turkey.

Addicta publishes peer-reviewed research reports on addictions, compiling research conducted among various disciplines. Articles include theoretical, philosophical, and political essays; research papers; research on addictive behaviors that include evidence-based clinical practice; clinical, epidemiological, and human experimental case reports; and historical research related to addiction. In addition to original research, the journal features both article and book reviews.

In the special issue, studies that distinctly contribute to the existing knowledge on Internet addiction—its prevention, social policies, and/or treatment—are given priority. Scholarly commentaries on topical issues and systematic reviews are also encouraged.

Submissions related to this special issue can include research and book reviews on themes including but not limited to the following:

  • Defining efforts of Internet addiction and problematic Internet use: Conceptual and theoretical discussions
  • Psychiatric and psychological symptomatology of Internet addiction
  • Clinical studies on Internet addiction
  • Correlational and experimental studies on Internet addiction
  • Qualitative studies on Internet addiction
  • Relationship between Internet addiction and other psychological and sociological factors
  • Subtypes of Internet addiction, such as online gaming, gambling, sexual content exploration, shopping, etc.
  • Effect of Internet addiction on youth, family, school, etc.

The Editors of this special issue of Addicta: The Turkish Journal on Addictions invite contributions from academics and researchers in the field of medicine, humanities, and social sciences. We encourage papers from multidisciplinary perspectives. The deadline for paper submissions is August 31, 2016.

Authors are encouraged to submit manuscripts using our online service; papers sent through post/email will not be considered.
