APA is seeking your input on recommendations for new nominations to serve on several Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Federal Advisory Committees. The purpose of these advisory committees is to advise and/or make recommendations on matters relating to the programs, responsibilities, or activities of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Individuals may submit recommendations for themselves or other individuals that are interested and qualified to serve. APA is seeking recommendations for the following HRSA Advisory Committees:

  • The Advisory Committee on Interdisciplinary, Community-Based Linkages (ACICBL)
The committee provides advice and recommendations to the Secretary of HHS concerning policy and program development and other matters of significance related to the disciplines of area health education centers, geriatrics, allied health, chiropractic, podiatric medicine, social work, graduate psychology, and rural health. APA is requesting nominations for health service psychologists (HSPs) representing area health education centers, education and training related to geriatrics, rural interdisciplinary training, and allied health.
  • The Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry (ACTPCMD)
The committee advises and makes recommendations to the Secretary concerning policy, program development and other matters of significance concerning the HRSA Bureau of Health Workforce family medicine, general internal medicine, general pediatrics, general dentistry, pediatric dentistry and physician assistant programs. The Secretary appoints members from practicing health professionals engaged in training; leaders from health professions organizations; faculty from health professions educational institutions, and health professionals from public or private teaching hospitals or community-based settings. APA is requesting nominations for HSPs representing family medicine, general internal medicine, and general pediatrics.
  • The Council on Graduate Medical Education (COGME)
COGME provides an ongoing assessment of physician workforce trends, training issues and financing policies, and recommends appropriate federal and private sector efforts on these issues. APA is requesting nominations for HSPs representing primary care, national and specialty physician organizations, international medical graduates, medical student and house staff associations, schools of medicine and osteopathy, and public and private teaching hospitals.
  • The National Advisory Council (NAC) on the National Health Service Corps (NHSC)
The National Advisory Council on the NHSC is a group of health care providers and administrators who are experts in the issues that communities with a shortage of primary care professionals face in meeting their health care needs. APA is requesting nominations for HSPs that are NHSC scholars or loan repayors that demonstrate the following areas of expertise: (1) working with underserved populations; (2) health care policy, recruitment and retention; (3) site administration; (4) customer service; (5) marketing; (6) organizational partnerships; (7) research; (8) and clinical practice.

Please submit recommendations for any of these committees to Alix Ginsberg at aginsberg@apa.org by Friday, February 26th. Please include a brief description of the basis for the nomination (i.e., what expertise, perspective, and/or skills the individual possesses that would benefit the committee). APA will follow-up with the individual directly to obtain the formal documents needed for the nomination package. We appreciate your help with this and look forwarding to hearing from you soon.
