The Morgridge College of Education (MCE) at the University of Denver (DU) invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Child, Family, and School Psychology (CFSP) Program within the Department of Teaching and Learning Sciences (TLS) beginning fall 2016. This is a benefited, non-tenure track, full-time 12 month clinical faculty position. As a full-time CFSP and TLS faculty member, the Clinical Assistant Professor will participate in all faculty activities such as advising students, participating in admissions activities, and attending department meetings. It is also expected that the successful candidate will assume the position of Director of Clinical Experiences, which may include a reduced teaching load in recognition of the time required for this service.
The Director of Clinical Experiences will supervise the field experiences sequence (practica and internship) as well as serve as the Director of the Psychoeducational Services Clinic and Supervisor of the Psychoeducational Assessment Library. This position will also develop and maintain community partnerships necessary for the students’ clinical training, including supervising the practica rotations of students in educational settings and the clinic, overseeing the scheduling of clinic clients, supervising Graduate Teaching Assistants, communicating with other clinic and College personnel, marketing the clinic to clients and the professional community, and collaborating with partner schools.
The CFSP Director of Clinical Experiences Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise the sequencing and coordination of the School Psychology clinical experiences during the four quarters (fall, winter, spring, and summer); this includes the two years of practica and one year of internship for the licensure students
- Coordinate the Clinic use and management with the Counseling Psychology Director of the Counseling Clinic, and any other parties interested in using the clinic space
- Supervise the running and maintenance of the Psychoeducational Assessment Library
- Develop and maintain community partnerships necessary for the students’ clinical training
- Supervising the practica rotations of students in educational settings and the clinic,
- Market the clinic to clients and the professional community
- Collaborate with partner schools and community agencies
- Manage the clinic budget with the TLS Department Chair
Required Education and Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in School Psychology or a closely related field by the start of the appointment.
- Has or eligible for DORA Professional Psychologist license.
- Experience working in or with clinical settings.
- Experience working in or with P-12 schools with exceptional populations
- Demonstrated knowledge of general and special education.
- Demonstrated knowledge of 0-21 student population, typically and atypically developing.
- Prior teaching experience in higher education.
Preferred Education and Qualifications:
- Has or eligible for CDE School Psychologist or NCSP license.
- Knowledge of a variety of teaching methods, approaches and/or curricular perspectives to effectively engage diverse populations and learning styles.
- Experience managing an educational clinic.
