The Department of Counseling Higher Education, and Special Education offers undergraduate, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in three broad areas: (a) Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, and Counselor Education; (b) Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education policy; and © Special Education. The Department’s programs have consistently received high national rankings, including the U.S. News top rank in the counseling specialty over the past 16 years. The Department is exploring the possibility of developing a psychological services clinic, which would serve as an on-site training facility for graduate students in the CoPE area and to offer affordable counseling and psychological services to the surrounding community.
Position Summary/Purpose of Position:
The Counseling Psychology, School Psychology, and Counselor Education (CoPE) program area in the Department of Counseling, Higher Education, and Special Education invites applications for an assistant or associate clinical professor (non-tenure track) position starting in August 2016.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide instruction and supervision for graduate students in counseling psychology, school psychology, and related disciplines in counseling/psychotherapy and assessment
o Collaborate with the pre-practicum, practicum, and externship instructors in counseling psychology, school psychology, and school counseling
• Develop a plan to establish a psychological services training clinic in the department
o Pursue funding opportunities to support development and operation of a clinic
o Manage personnel and budget operations of a clinic
• Participate as a member of the CoPE/CHSE faculty
Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctorate in counseling, school, or clinical psychology from an APA-accredited program
• Professional work experience as a clinic director/administrator or staff psychologist
• Licensed or license eligible in the state of Maryland by the date of appointment
• Demonstrated expertise in psychological assessment, report writing, and therapy services
• Experience in supervising and training doctoral students in psychological assessment and treatment
• Commitment and ability to prepare students to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds
Preferences:
• Experience in working with children, adolescents, adults, and families
• Ability to train and supervise school psychology and counseling psychology doctoral students
• Knowledge of the K-12 school context
