To be held April 5th at 2:00 p.m. EDT
Planned missing data (PM) designs take a feature that is typically seen as a nuisance and leverage it to improve the power, cost-effectiveness, or validity of data collection. Participants are randomly assigned to have missing items (e.g., on a survey), missing time points (e.g., on a multi-wave study), or missing measures (e.g., an expensive biometric measure). These designs afford several potential benefits: The cost of data collection can be reduced, the data may have higher validity due to reduced participant burden, and rates of unplanned missingness may be lower. This webinar will begin with an overview of the concept of PM designs. We will then consider when and how to implement two types of PM design: multi-form and wave-missing designs.
