The School Psychology program and Psychology Department at Tennessee State University is pleased to announce a non-tenure track Visiting Assistant Professor position in School Psychology effective August 2016.  The expected teaching load is four courses/semester and the primary teaching responsibilities will be for School Psychology assessment courses. However, teaching some undergraduate courses would be required. The School Psychology faculty members are also research active and the Visiting Assistant Professor would be encouraged to assist with current projects, or pursue an independent line of research.

The School Psychology program is housed in the Psychology Department, within the College of Education. The School Psychology program at Tennessee State University has full time faculty members, as well as support from adjunct faculty members. We collaborate with other psychology faculty, and faculty from other departments within the College of Education and throughout the university. In fact, the Psychology Department and College of Education foster an environment of team work and collaboration. In addition, we have active partnerships with Metro Nashville Public Schools to provide our students with hands-on experiences.

The School Psychology Program offers M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and the program coordinators and Psychology Department are committed to and in preparation for the Ph.D. program to pursue NASP approval and APA accreditation. The School Psychology program follows a scientist-practitioner model with an emphasis on diversity and social justice. Tennessee State University is a Historically Black University and accordingly the university, all colleges and departments, and faculty have a deep commitment to underserved populations.

The Visiting Assistant Professor position in School Psychology would require an earned doctorate in school psychology, or educational psychology with specialization or certification in school psychology. Experience with teaching and student advising, as well as the ability to function in a team oriented department is desired.
