The Committee on Early Career Psychologists (CECP) is seeking nominations for two representatives to serve a three-year term (2017-2019):

Education Representative:

  • Have a history or working as an educator
  • Experience working with committees and other groups in promoting the education and training of students
  • Ability to represent the interests of early career psychologists (ECPs) to the field of education and within the APA
  • Attend the Education Leadership Conference
  • Applicants will be evaluated on work and leadership experiences within the education sector, the APA and their community.

State, Provincial, and Territorial Psychological Associations (SPTA) Representative:

  • Promoting ECP leadership within State, Provincial, and Territorial Associations (SPTAs), and represents the interests of these ECPs within the APA
  • Co-directs a network of ECP representatives from SPTAs
  • Facilitates activities, projects and programs that foster participation of ECPs in SPTAs and within APA governance
  • Sits on the Committee of State Leaders (COSL organizes the APA Practice Organization’s annual State Leadership Conference held each March).
  • Responsible for organizing and facilitating the ECP Orientation track for the ECP delegates who attend the SLC
  • Applicants for the SPTA Slate will be evaluated on leadership experiences within their SPTA, the APA and their community.

Candidates must be APA members within ten years receipt of their doctorate degree as of January 1, 2017. In addition, candidates must be able to attend mandatory committee meetings; one in the spring, and two in the fall and the respective leadership conference.  Meeting expenses are reimbursed by APA.  Although not reimbursed, committee members are also highly encouraged to attend and participate in the CECP programming annually at the APA convention. The committee works extensively through listserv and email. Applicants should expect to spend a minimum of 5 hours per week engaged in committee activities.
