The APA Commission on Accreditation (CoA) invites the public to comment on five Implementing Regulations (IRs) tailored to the new Standards of Accreditation for Health Service Psychology and the revised Accreditation Operating Procedures. The public comment period will close on February 5, 2017.

The public comment period (http://apps.apa.org/accredcomment/default.aspx) focuses on revisions to the following five IRs:

  • Discipline-Specific Knowledge (DSK)
  • Direct Observation
  • Profession-Wide Competencies (PWC)
  • Annual Reporting for Reaffirmation of Accreditation and Program Monitoring (D.4-7(a))
  • Narrative Annual Reporting for Reaffirmation of Accreditation and Program Monitoring (D.4-7(c))

In accordance with the APA “Policies for Accreditation Governance” and Department of Education regulations for notice and comment, the CoA will make the proposed IRs available for a period of public review and comment. In an effort to promote thoughtful discussion, the CoA is providing an electronic-based comment form for public comment submission. Comments and other information, including users’ identities, will be public. Email addresses used in the registration will be kept confidential. The CoA will consider all comments received and make any appropriate revisions prior to approval of the final version of each IR.

The public comment period will remain open through February 5, 2017. To provide public comment, please go to http://apps.apa.org/accredcomment and select Implementing Regulations (DSK, Direct Observation, PWC, D.4-7(a) and D.4-7(c)). A PDF of the IRs out for public comment is to the right of this title.

On behalf of the CoA, thank you for your review and comments. Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Office of Program Consultation and Accreditation at (202) 336-5979 or apaaccred@apa.org.
