The University of Washington, School Psychology Program invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer. This is a non-tenure track 50% FTE (9 months) salaried position and includes medical and dental benefits. The position begins September 16, 2017. After the initial 9-month appointment and a successful end-of-year review, this Part-Time Lecturer will be eligible for a multi-year contract (2-3 years). Part-time lecturers are non-voting members of the UW faculty.

Responsibilities:

This position announcement is for a School Psychology Internship Coordinator.  For this role, we seek a talented and innovative practitioner-educator who brings a strong background in school psychology at the EdS and PhD degree levels. Applicants must have: 1) a demonstrated passion for teaching, 2) successful experience in clinical supervision of students, and 3) the skills to facilitate and maintain applied and clinical internship opportunities between the School Psychology Program and local school districts and APA/APPIC sites nationally. We are looking for a practitioner with experience working with urban schools and the ability to support internship training experiences for students within the School Psychology Program.  The internship coordinator will be responsible for supporting the EdS-level internships as well as preparing doctoral-level interns for the predoctoral internship match process.

The teaching load of the internship coordinator will include the following: a) introduction to school psychology, b) internship case study, c) providing group supervision for EdS interns, d) school psychological assessment practicum, d) and a seminar for prospective predoctoral interns.  The teaching load is 16-18 credits per academic year.

Lecturer Role:

Part-time Lecturers are instructional faculty at the University of Washington and are essential and valued colleagues. This position requires a colleague who remains focused on ensuring that the internship experiences are aligned with the needs of the interns and the values of the UW School Psychology Program. The Internship Coordinator plays a pivotal role in program operations and is considered “core” faculty to the School Psychology program.  The role is aligned with the work of the tenure-track faculty with a focus on the teaching-oriented activities of the School Psychology Program. Given this alignment, the position requires participation in School Psychology faculty meetings, reviews of students, course planning and development, and program accreditation renewal reviews.

Qualifications:

Candidates must have a PhD degree in School Psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA) and the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP).  The candidate must be eligible for Washington State ESA certification as a School Psychologist and licensed at the doctoral level as a Psychologist. Ideal candidates will also have participated in (or engaged with) the APPIC internship match process within the past 5 years. Preferred candidates will hold certification as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist in addition to being a Licensed Psychologist.  Optimal candidates will demonstrate a commitment to serving in public schools, show evidence of the ability to serve diverse populations in urban school districts, have a history of strong and supportive supervisory skills, evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level, strong collaboration with professional colleagues, and leadership skills.

Salary and Contract:

This part time lecturer position is a non-tenure track 50% FTE (9 months) and includes medical and dental benefits. Salary for this position is commensurate with experience and background. Lecturers hired through this announcement will be eligible for a 2-3-year contract after a positive first-year review.  Subsequent 2-3-year contracts may be renewable upon successful performance.
