EAST CAROLINA UNIVERSITY Department of Psychology, Greenville, NC, invites applications for a nine-month tenure-track faculty position, beginning August 13, 2018, at an Assistant Professor level. Appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level may be considered for a candidate with a well-established record of teaching and research and current portable extramural funding.
We seek candidates with an interest in Pediatric School Psychology or Pediatric Psychology whose research involves primary prevention, behavioral health promotion, the impact of health-related conditions on children’s academic or social-behavioral outcomes, or other areas relevant to pediatric or school psychology. Primary duties include research and mentorship of doctoral students, teaching within the Health Psychology Ph.D. program (e.g., graduate seminars in Pediatric School Psychology and other basic assessment or intervention courses), and service as a core faculty member of the APA-accredited Pediatric School Psychology track of the Health Psychology Ph.D. program. Successful applicants will help support the training of psychologists who can advance knowledge and theory about pediatric school psychology and apply health psychology principles to school psychology practices using an integrated behavioral health paradigm.
Our department seeks to attract a culturally diverse faculty. We also welcome experience and expertise in conducting research with diverse populations. Successful applicants will be expected to establish an active research program and pursue extramural funding, mentor students in our graduate programs, and actively engage in graduate and undergraduate teaching. Service to the university, community and profession is expected.
Opportunities exist for clinical research collaborations within our Health Psychology program (e.g., externalized behavior disorders, school- based mental health, pain, trauma, adjustment to chronic illness) and with other departments, including those at the Brody School of Medicine (e.g., Hematology/Oncology, NICU, Pediatric Healthy Weight). We also have established practicum sites with ECU Pediatric Outpatient Clinic, ECU Family Medicine and Vidant Hospital as well as with area school-based mental health centers.
