Fellows will work on Institute of Education Sciences (IES) and Boys Town-supported programs related to the education, development, and well-being of children and youth with EBD. Fellows will be assigned to projects focused on academic functioning and instruction, transition/aftercare, health literacy, implementation and fidelity research, and family-based interventions, with an emphasis on parent-to-parent family support. The goal of the postdoctoral program is to prepare individuals with the research skills to assume leadership positions in the education, development, and well-being of children and youth with EBD. To this end, the experience will lead fellows to:
- Possess well-defined statistical and methodological skills necessary to conduct meaningful large-scale research (e.g., randomized trials, longitudinal studies, meta-analyses, and comprehensive reviews).
- Conduct and disseminate pilot studies related to youth with EBD.
- Be knowledgeable and competent to develop, implement, and evaluate intervention services for youth with EBD.
- Possess skills to submit competitive grant applications.
- Expand experience in writing for publication and presenting at professional conferences.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in special education, psychology, social work, or related area.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Research interest in youth with emotional and behavioral disorders.
- Experience working with schools and/or family agencies on research.
- Experience conducting research with statistical software.
- Experience writing manuscripts for publication.
