The consensus study Committee on Fostering Healthy Mental, Emotional, and Behavioral (MEB) Development among Children and Youth, under the auspices of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, will hold its first information-gathering session on Wednesday, March 6, 2018 from 8:30 a.m. EST – 12:30 p.m. EST. This session will be live webcast and recorded.

During this session, the committee will hear from experts on a variety of topics related to fostering healthy MEB development in children and youth, such as barriers and facilitators to effective implementation; diverse research methodologies; public health marketing and messaging strategies; and perspectives of community stakeholders.

This study is a follow-up to the 2009 National Academies report – Preventing Mental, Emotional, and Behavioral Disorders Among Young People: Progress and Possibilities.The current study will review and synthesize available research and conduct analyses of areas of key advances and persistent challenges since the publication of the 2009 report. Based on the review and analyses of the information gathered and confidential deliberations, the committee will produce a consensus report with actionable recommendations for specific agencies and organizations to lead efforts into the next decade.
