The Department of Psychology at Utah State University seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position to begin August 2018. Candidates are sought with research interests and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: culturally responsive school-based services and competency; consultation; systems change; evidence-based interventions in schools for academic and social/emotional/behavioral problems; and multi-tiered systems of support to promote academic and social/emotional/behavioral success in schools. The candidate hired will be affiliated with the department’s NASP-approved EdS School Psychology program as well as the new PhD program in School Psychology. The first doctoral cohort will be matriculating in the 2018–2019 academic year, and the faculty are actively pursuing APA accreditation.

Responsibilities Include:

1) Conduct research and other scholarly activities, including the pursuit of external funding;
2) Teach undergraduate and graduate classes within area of expertise and department need. The typical departmental teaching load is three to four courses per year, but release from
courses is negotiable with external funding;
3) Mentor graduate students on their research, program, and professional activities;
4) Supervise graduate students in school-based practicum activities;
5) Serve on the School Psychology program steering committee and engage in program
development activities;
6) Provide service contributions to the college, university, and department. Service activities
might include serving on relevant committees.

The Department of Psychology is located within the Emma Eccles Jones College of Education and Human Services. The department consists of over 30 faculty representing diverse areas of psychology. The department is one of the most research productive units in the college. Faculty enjoy collaborative relationships with those in the department as well as other departments in the college (e.g., Special Education and Rehabilitation) and across campus (e.g., Biology).

Minimum Qualifications:

1) Earned doctorate degree by August 2018 in School Psychology or a closely related field;
2) Completion of a doctoral internship by August 2018;
3) Productivity (or evidence of productivity potential) in research and scholarly activities;
for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor, a sustained record of scholarly
activities / peer-reviewed publications, is required;
4) Evidence of excellent teaching potential and ability to mentor students; for appointment
at the rank of Associate Professor evidence of teaching / mentoring effectiveness is
required;
5) Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills;
6) Eligible for educator licensure as a School Psychologist in Utah;
7) Eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in Utah

Preferred Qualifications:

1) Experience working in the K-12 schools;
2) Completion of an APA-accredited internship
