Overview:
RTI has partnered with Pearson to test the 4th edition of Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development. Pearson is a leading publisher of clinical assessment tools, for measurement of a broad range of development, skills, and special needs. The Bayley Scales are a widely used measure of developmental domains, assessing function in infants and young children, birth through age 3 years.

The following professionals are invited to participate in data collection as examiners:

  • School Psychologists
  • Clinical Psychologists
  • Developmental Psychologists
  • Neuropsychologists
  • Psychometrists
  • Educational Diagnosticians
  • Early Childhood Intervention Specialists
  • Occupational Therapists
  • Physical Therapists
  • Speech-Language Pathologists
  • Pediatric Nurse Practitioners
  • Graduate students in the above fields who have experience administering the Bayley®-III, Preschool Language Scales®-4th edition (PLS®-4), Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence® (WPPSI®-IV), or similar assessment may be qualified to work as field examiners.
  • Examiners typically have a minimum of a master’s degree in Clinical, Neuro, or School Psychology, or Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Other professions, such as Educational Diagnostician, Early Childhood Intervention Specialist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist, or Pediatric Nurse Practitioners may qualify if they have master’s level training in individualized assessment and experience administering the Bayley®-III, PLS®-4, WPPSI®-IV, or similar assessments. The WPPSI®-IV must be administered by a qualified psychologist.

Requirements:

  • Available to work from May 2018 to late 2018.
  • Candidates must have experience administering one or more of the following: the Bayley®-III, Preschool Language Scales®-4th edition (PLS®-4), Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence® (WPPSI®-IV), or similar assessment.
  • Ability to recruit examinees through personal and professional networks.
  • Work with project staff to locate additional recruitment resources for examinees locally.
  • Have access to populations of young children from harder-to-reach demographics (e.g., minority ethnicities, lower parental education)
  • Have access to physical space for assessments and/or ability to travel to any designated testing site to administer tests.
  • Meet as needed with project personnel via telephone to discuss issues related to administering tests, upcoming testing events, and potential examinees.
  • Sign a proprietary information non-disclosure agreement RTI/Headway.
  • Adhere to all guidelines when administering the assessments.
  • Accurate reporting of number of completed assessments.
  • Successful completion of 1-hour online/teleconference training.

  • Availability to work full-time (40 hours weekly) from May 2018 – late 2018
  • BA or higher in psychology or related field
  • Familiarity with clinical settings
  • Experience conducting the Bayley Scales assessment
  • Supervisory experience
  • Data collection experience

As a Regional Coordinator, you will…

  • Interview, recruit, and manage a team of qualified Field Examiners within your assigned region. This includes ongoing recruitment, and training as necessary to remain fully staffed.
  • Support Field Examiners in locating additional sample, as needed. Including:
  • Identifying locations frequented by the target population
  • Coordinating outreach activities to recruit hard-to-reach examinees
  • Networking with area child care centers, churches, university listservs, social media, and other modes of advertisement
  • Identify community outlets for study recruitment and testing locations
  • Schedule testing locations and recruit parents to go to testing locations
  • Manage a team of professional clinicians; provide support as needed and be responsive to examiner needs
  • Closely monitor the quality and status of recruitment activities to ensure a steady flow of cases to examiners throughout the data collection period

Other requirements:

  • Willing to consent to the performance of a background check
  • Attend 1-hour online/teleconference training
