Hillsborough County Public Schools (Tampa, Florida) has immediate vacancies for school psychologists.  I’ve attached our recruitment brochure and would like to provide a few highlights regarding Psychological Services that might be of interest to your recent graduates or those looking for a career in the near future:

  • Eighth largest district in the nation
  • Staff of 200+ school psychologists
  • Most school psychologists are assigned to one or two schools.  By contract, school psychologists cannot have more than 3 schools unless assigned to a special team.
  • Amazing support system of an assigned mentor, team leader, coordinator, and supervisor within the department.
  • Professional development opportunities are year round, including opportunities for free inservice points and continuing education credits (the latter approved by NASP).
  • The 2016-2017 base salary schedule is attached and is current.  Work calendar is 205 days.  Eight-hour workday includes a 30 minute paid lunch.  Holidays are peppered throughout the year including a few days off during Thanksgiving week, two weeks of winter break, one week of spring break.
  • Human Resources will determine your base salary.  Note that there are opportunities for additional supplements based on the school’s grade, Title I sites, special programs specific to the school, and summer employment.
  • Wide variety of test kits, questionnaires, and other instruments used for assessment.
  • Most staff are provided a desktop computer at their work site and/or a laptop issued by the department.
  • School psychologists are integral members of school teams (Child Study Team, MTSS/RtI Team, Problem-Solving Leadership Team, etc.)
  • Role of school psychologist varies by site.  Depending on the needs of the site, school psychologists may provide consultation, complete psychoeducational evaluations, offer counseling, assist with intervention planning and progress monitoring, and intervene for students in crisis, among other roles.
