The University of Southern Mississippi (USM) is seeking a colleague to fill a visiting position in our APA-accredited and NASP- approved doctoral training program, to begin fall 2018. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to our doctoral school psychology program. Primary responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate teaching, advisement, and practicum supervision of school psychology doctoral students. The school psychology program is based on the scientist- practitioner model with a strong behavioral theoretical orientation. Research and applied interests are open but should be consistent with a behavioral school psychology approach. The position is contingent upon funding. The school psychology program has been fully and continuously APA-accredited since 1983 and NASP-approved since 1981. The Department of Psychology, designated as one of six Centers of Excellence by the Mississippi Institutions of Higher Learning, is a growing and dynamic department, with 35 full-time faculty lines and approximately 600 undergraduate majors and 115 graduate students. It is located in Hattiesburg, MS, a prosperous and growing sunbelt community about 70 miles from the Gulf Coast and about 100 miles from New Orleans. The department also offers APA-accredited programs in clinical and counseling psychology, as well as a doctoral program in experimental (Brain & Behavior) psychology. Additionally, it houses two Master’s Programs, one in Counseling Psychology and one with an emphasis in Applied Behavior Analysis.

It is our hope that the individual hired for this visiting position will be competitive for a tenure- track position that we anticipate advertising in the fall of 2018. That position is subject to the approval of the Provost.
