A couple of highlights:

  1. A competitive salary.  Currently, masters +30 annual salaries range from $52,590 to $81,598.
  2. The salary includes $2000 for NCSP.  Dorchester County makes a point of recognizing and paying for quality training and knowledge.
  3. A department with 5 school psychologists for a total student population of approximately 4800 students.  That’s a ratio of 1:490 school psychologists to students.
  4. Of the 5 school psychologists, 3 are board certified behavior analysts (BCBA), and 1 is nearly done with her BCBA training.  The 5th school psychologist has completed additional coursework in school neuropsychology.  We have worked hard on investing in the department and advancing practitioner skill sets beyond baseline school psychology training.
  5. Although it isn’t guaranteed, NASP attendance has been almost yearly.  The last time the school psychologists did not attend was the bottom of the economic crisis during the great recession.
  6. Geography:  Rural district, 1 ½ hours from the Atlantic Ocean / beaches, Baltimore, and Washington DC.  Directly on the Chesapeake Bay.  Two hours from Philadelphia.  For being a rural area, there is a surprising amount of stuff to do.
  7. Ever increasing diversity of students:  Caucasian, African-American, Hispanic, and Asian students.  You can work with multiple cultures, and we usually have bilingual evaluation cases each year.
