Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in Special Education or a closely related field
  • Evidence of ability to teach and contribute to academic program development at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Demonstrated scholarly record in the form of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations in the area of ASD or DD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • We are particularly interested in individuals whose research will contribute to the evidence base supporting data-based decision-making to guide prevention and early and/or intensive intervention
  • Program of research entailing assessment and/or intervention, such as developmental behavioral intervention, positive behavior intervention and support, or other evidence-based instructional methods for individuals with ASD/DD
  • Evidence of ability to secure research or training grants
  • Experience teaching at the UG or Graduate level in the area of ASD/DD
  • Teaching license that covers ASD

About the Job: The University of Minnesota is actively building capacity in the area of ASD. Responsibilities:

  • Research (40%): Develop and maintain a strong record of scientific scholarship pertinent to academic, social, and/or behavioral outcomes for individuals with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities, while maintaining a commitment to securing external funds to support the individual’s scholarly inquiry and graduate training.
  • Teaching and Advising (40%): Provide instruction, and leadership in the Special Education program (which includes both undergraduate and graduate level teaching opportunities); advise graduate students while making strong contributions to the ongoing activities of the undergraduate and graduate training program, the department, the college, and the University.
  • Service (20%): Participate in program, department, college, university, local/regional schools, and other service or civic engagement activities, such as service on internal committees or task forces and making presentations to external constituencies. Participate in the activities of relevant professional organizations.

This is a full-time position in a leading graduate program and college of a major urban research university with a starting date of August 28, 2019.
