The School Psychology Program in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking applicants for a tenured professor position to begin August 2019. We are especially interested in candidates with research and training interest and expertise in neuropsychology or cultural diversity. The successful applicant will teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels, conduct research, obtain external funding, and mentor students. The ideal candidate will be able to mentor students in our Specialist and APA-accredited Doctoral school psychology program, and develop collaborative relationships with Dell Medical School and other department, college, and university programs. The School Psychology Program has a long and rich tradition of excellence and leadership in scholarship and training. It was the first accredited and now the longest continuously accredited doctoral school psychology program by the American Psychological Association. The faculty are a vibrant group of scholars with interdisciplinary interests, collaborations, and external funding support. Faculty research interests include school mental health, evidence-based school and mental health intervention, pediatric psychology, integrated behavioral health, and research methodology. Doctoral students complete a school-focused program during their first two years and have the opportunity to complete a variety of professional tracks in subsequent years. The master’s program is geared toward students who are interested in future doctoral-level work.
The Department of Educational Psychology, currently ranked #6 among public universities according to the US News and World Report, includes four program areas: Quantitative Methods; Human Development, Culture & Learning Sciences; School Psychology; and Counseling Psychology (also APA accredited). The department is housed within the College of Education; the college and all departments are consistently ranked among the top 10 public universities. The college provides excellent faculty support including an Office of Educational Research Support, Instructional Innovation Support Center, and Instructional Technology Center.
The University of Texas at Austin is a dynamic institution with extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and partnerships within and beyond the university. Notably, the first medical school in nearly 50 years to be built from the ground up at a top tier AAU research university opened in June 2016 at UT-Austin. The Department of Educational Psychology has one of three currently approved joint MD-MA degree programs with the Dell Medical School. Faculty and students have other collaborative training and research opportunities with the Dell Medical School, Dell Children’s Hospital, and with the Department-affiliated Texas Child Study Center, as well as with local public and charter schools. Qualifications
Applicants should have earned a doctoral degree from an APA-accredited program, have an established research program – including a strong publication record and a record of success in obtaining external funding – and an excellent teaching record.

Review of applicants will begin by October 15, 2018 and continue until the position is filled. Applicants should have an earned doctorate from an APA-accredited program prior to August 2019. Cover letters should also include a statement regarding how the applicant’s scholarship, teaching (which can include mentoring), and professional work addresses issues of diversity, social justice, and equity.
