Kurtz Psychology Consulting PC is excited to announce two openings – one for a Senior Psychologist and the other for a Staff Psychologist.

Kurtz Psychology Consulting PC is a private, group practice located in the heart of midtown Manhattan – a stone’s throw from Carnegie Hall, Radio City Music Hall, Columbus Circle and beautiful Central Park.  Kurtz Psychology was formed in 2014 by Steven Kurtz, PhD, ABPP, a clinical child psychologist with a national reputation for developing innovative empirically-supported clinical programs such as PCIT for Selective Mutism. Dr. Kurtz is one of only 21 Certified Master Trainers of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), a gold standard treatment for young children with DBDs. Prior to 2014, Dr. Kurtz was the inaugural Senior Director of the Child Mind Institute’s ADHD program and the Director of its Selective Mutism program. From 1999-2010, Dr. Kurtz was on the faculty of the NYU Langone Medical Center – NYU Child Study Center and the Clinical Director of its ADHD and Selective Mutism programs.

Our motto is Changing Interactions One At A Time, reflecting our deep commitment to using behaviorally-grounded therapies, in a developmentally-sensitive way, with parents as the key agents of change helping their children develop improved coping skills and social-emotional functioning. Our offices are well-resourced with two parent-child one-way mirror suites with state-of-the-science video recording technology to facilitate high quality supervision, research, and development of tapes for in-house and other teaching opportunities. We are IRB-approved to conduct research and are currently investigating anxiogenic parenting and parent homework enhancement interventions. All members of our team routinely present at national conferences (ABCT, ADAA, PCIT, SMA) and will be on hand at ABCT in November to meet with you. We invest heavily in professional development with fully paid professional memberships, conference attendance, and bonuses for attaining the ABPP Diplomate.  Our ongoing training includes theLunch ‘n’ Learn webinar series that now offers APA CEs. The two open positions are:

  1. Senior Psychologist – Partner Track We seek a Senior Psychologist with the explicit expectation of developing into a partner in the practice. This position is a key management position along with a carrying a clinical caseload and includes being our Director of Training. The Senior Psychologist position requires a PhD or PsyD in psychology with a minimum of three years post-fellowship.  NY licensure is required to commence the position; consideration will be given to psychologists licensed in other jurisdictions.
  2. Staff Psychologist This position is best suited for a NY-licensed psychologist who is 0-3 years post-doctoral. This is a full-time clinical position.  The ideal candidate is already well-versed in CBT with children and/or adolescents and has developed some subspecialty interests. Preference will be given to those with prior experience in our current subspecialty areas, early childhood disruptive behaviors and/or selective mutism and other child anxiety disorders. Prior experience with Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a plus but not a requirement. However, a growth-minded openness to developing new areas of practice is most important. We are more than willing to train in our protocols.
