The Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology and Special Education (ECPS), located in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia, invites applications for a tenured Associate Professor or Professor position in the area of School and Applied Child Psychology.

Applicants for this position will have a doctoral degree in applied psychology (clinical, counseling, or school) preferably from a CPA, APA, or other nationally accredited program or from a major research university. Evidence of sustained research and scholarly achievements and productivity, and experience and commitment to excellence in teaching and clinical supervision are required. Strong preference will be given to individuals with prior experiences as a faculty member in an applied psychology program (or related area) with expertise regarding the design and provision of culturally competent services for diverse and vulnerable populations. In addition, research, teaching, and supervisory experience in one or more of the following areas: school‐based mental health, intervention/counseling/child therapy, multiculturalism and cultural diversity, consultation, and/or assessment with school age children, youth, and their families is preferred.

The successful applicant will have a strong commitment to social justice, serving the needs of diverse populations including indigenous populations, research and training in School Psychology and Applied Child Psychology, and will be eligible for registration as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia. Priority will be given to applicants whose research aligns with UBC’s priorities of research excellence, community engagement, aboriginal engagement, intercultural understanding, and international collaboration. The appointment will be effective July 1, 2020 or as soon as it is filled.
