Texas A&M University’s Project X-CEL (under the direction of Dr. Jamilia Blake, Principal Investigator) is seeking a full-time postdoctoral research associate (R-027233) with expertise in classroom behavior management, culturally relevant pedagogy, and teacher education to join an interdisciplinary team embarking on a new line of research to reduce racial and gendered biases in educational settings. We are particularly interested in candidates with experiences working in K-12 settings (as a teacher, behavior specialist, administrator, etc.) and a track-record of investigating diversity-related issues (e.g., race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, socioeconomic status, and/or intersection of identities) as it relates to school discipline and classroom behavior management. The position is for 2 years with an available start date between July and August 2020. We anticipate that qualified candidates will have earned their doctorates by their start date in education, educational psychology, special education, school psychology, or related fields.
Duties: The postdoctoral associate will have the opportunity to get involved in all the research aspects of the project, but primary responsibilities include collaborating with the research team on data collection, data analysis, conceptualizing scientific papers and presentations, and preparing manuscripts for submission to academic journals. The position calls for a scholar capable of advancing aspects of the research project independently, but also capable of working effectively as part of a large collaborative team. The position offers an excellent opportunity to further analytical and writing skills, publish scientific papers, and receive mentoring from a rich, multidisciplinary community of scholars from diverse fields (e.g., education, psychology, communication, performance studies, and sociology).
