The Education and Leadership Department at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB) seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor of School Psychology to begin fall 2021. CSUMB is a Hispanic-Serving Institution on the central California coast. The institution prides itself on making higher education accessible to traditionally underserved and low-income populations. The school psychology program is housed in the interdisciplinary Education and Leadership department that supports future educators across disciplines.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach graduate students in school psychology program with an emphasis on bilingual and multicultural school psychology
  • Engagement in scholarly activities
  • Assist the program in NASP and CTC accreditation
  • Active participation and collaboration with faculty colleagues and graduate students
  • Advising and mentoring graduate students
  • Supervising field-based practicum and internship
  • Service to the school, college, university, and profession
  • Seek external funding

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctorate in School Psychology or Special Education from a NASP accredited program by time of appointment
  • Must be eligible for, or hold, the Pupil Personnel Service Credential in School Psychology
  • Experience as a school psychologist in a K-12 setting
  • Expertise in School Psychology including assessment, ethics and law, special education, consultation, and individual and group counseling
  • Knowledge and training in Applied Behavior Analysis in school settings
  • Experience working effectively in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
  • Demonstrated potential or record of effective teaching using a variety of methodologies
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated potential for or record of research, scholarly and/or creative activity in the area of School Psychology
  • Retention, tenure, and promotion require building a record of excellent teaching, service, and scholarly publications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Particular expertise in bilingual and multicultural school psychology
  • Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed eligible
  • Board certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or BCBA eligible
  • NCSP Certification, or NCSP eligible
  • Expertise in Research Methods
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
