The Department of Educational and School Psychology at the University of Southern Maine (USM) is seeking a Clinical Assistant Faculty to support our growing specialist and doctoral-level school psychology programs. This continuing contract, year-round position will assume responsibility for designing, coordinating, and supervising field-based experiences for school psychology trainees within Maine’s PK-12 public schools. This is a unique opportunity to join an established and collaborative faculty working in partnership with the state department of education to recruit, train, and retain highly qualified school psychologists and thereby increase Maine students’ access to comprehensive academic and mental and behavioral health services. Key responsibilities of the position will include:
- Collaborating with the current field-placement coordinator to expand field-based training partnerships with Maine schools;
- Providing individual, on-site clinical supervision to school psychology trainees in order to support priority initiatives (e.g., MTSS, PBIS, SEL, and specialized program development) in partnering Maine schools;
- Providing group supervision and didactic trainings for school psychology trainees enrolled in practicum and internship courses; and
- Collaborating with departmental faculty to develop and deliver competency-based training in clinical supervision to school psychologists employed by partnering Maine schools.
Since 1989, the Department of Educational and School Psychology at USM has prepared school psychologists with the competencies to support the diverse needs of school-aged children by delivering evidence-based services within a collaborative, problem-solving framework. The department presently offers a Certificate in Applied Behavior Analysis, an MS in Educational Psychology (Applied Behavior Analysis Concentration), an MS in Educational Psychology (School Psychology Concentration), and a PsyD in School Psychology. Faculty and graduate students in the department routinely collaborate on scholarly projects and engage actively with the local school psychology community. The successful candidate will join a supportive team dedicated to promoting equitable outcomes for the school-aged population by providing quality graduate training and engaging meaningfully with the community.

Required Qualifications:
- A doctoral degree in psychology
- 3 years of full-time experience as a practicing school psychologist
- Eligible for credentialing as a school psychologist by the Maine Department of Education
- Eligible for licensure as a psychologist by the Maine Board of Examiners of Psychologists
