The University of Texas at Austin, Department of Educational Psychology is seeking a faculty member in the School Psychology program at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Of particular interest are applicants with a record of or potential for scholarly excellence and leadership in the following areas: Academic assessment and academic intervention, especially for Spanish-speaking English Learners; Multi-tiered systems of support; and home-school partnerships for culturally and linguistically diverse families. Strong preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated commitment to reducing opportunity gaps in schools, enhancing access to effective services and/or improving academic outcomes for diverse children and families.

The School Psychology Program has a long and rich tradition of excellence and leadership in scholarship and training. It was the first accredited and now the longest continuously accredited doctoral school psychology program by the American Psychological Association. The faculty are a vibrant group of scholars with interdisciplinary interests, collaborations, and external funding support. Current faculty research interests include evidence-based and culturally responsive intervention and prevention, implementation science, early childhood education and school consultation, and pediatric health psychology. Research and training collaborations exist within the program and across the university, including with faculty in medicine, nursing, social work, psychology, public policy and communication sciences. The program admits both doctoral students and masters’ students in school psychology. Doctoral students complete a school-focused program during their first two years and specialize their training in a specific area (e.g., clinical child psychology, pediatric psychology, diversity science) in subsequent years. The master’s program trains students for the Specialist in School Psychology (SSP) degree. The master’s program is geared towards students who are interested in doctoral-level work in the future and has a track record of supporting students from diverse backgrounds to successfully pursue doctoral-level training.

The Department of Educational Psychology is currently the #6 ranked program in the country by U.S. News & World Report. The department includes four program areas: School Psychology, Counseling Psychology (also APA accredited), Quantitative Methods, and Human Development, Culture & Learning Sciences.   3. Demonstrated record of, or high potential for, securing extramural research
  4. Experience or capacity to teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students from diverse  backgrounds and advance the College’s mission of equity and

Preferred Qualifications for the Position of Associate Professor

  • Demonstrated record of chairing and advising graduate students
  • Demonstrated record of leadership at department, college, and university levels
