Responsibilities:  We are searching for a candidate to join a vibrant faculty in the College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation at New Mexico State University. The ideal candidate will assume a nine-month, tenure-track appointment in the Counseling and Educational Psychology Department, which houses a NASP accredited Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) School Psychology program and a new Ph.D. program in School Psychology. We are searching for a candidate to primarily support the Ed.S. program while also contributing to the growth of our Ph.D program.

Required Qualifications:  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in School Psychology in hand by the time of the start date.  Applicants must be licensed or license-eligible as a psychologist in New Mexico. Graduation from an APA-accredited program and completion of an APA-accredited internship are both required for applicants. Applicants should provide evidence of an active research program that includes a strong focus on diversity, social justice, underserved populations, and mental health disparities that can enrich scholarship in these areas. New professionals should include a statement that details their vision for the development of an active research program.

Preferred Qualifications We are committed to attracting candidates with a demonstrated interest in cultural and personal diversity as it relates to the practice of school psychology. Candidates should have demonstrated success in working with culturally diverse populations and effective collaboration across distinct academic program areas. Candidates should have experience with supervision of prospective school psychologists. The candidate’s teaching, scholarship and service should enhance the department’s areas of strength. Examples of Duties: Teach graduate and undergraduate courses primarily focused on assessment, supervision, and research. Candidates will conduct research that involves doctoral students and contributes to NMSU research foci and obtain external funding in these areas.

The CEPY Department is housed in the new College of Health, Education, and Social Transformation and is comprised of innovative graduate and undergraduate programs. Graduate programs within the department include an APA-accredited Ph.D. program in Counseling Psychology, a NASP-approved School Psychology Ed.S. program, CACREP-accredited MA program in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a post-doctoral APA Designated training program for Prescribing Psychologists, and graduate minors in Spanish Counseling and Integrated Behavioral Healthcare. The department also offers an undergraduate minor and major in Counseling and Community Psychology. We seek to employ a faculty member who is a culturally-competent educator, researcher, and trainer.
