We’re accepting applications for the next cohort of the Pediatric BHIP Postdoctoral Psychology Fellowship in Integrated Primary Care! This fellowship opportunity focuses on providing direct care and training within Montefiore’s network of primary care practices across the Bronx and lower Westchester County, New York. Montefiore is the first NYC health system to earn Distinction in Behavioral Health Integration from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), one of the nation’s highest honors for treating behavioral needs in primary care.

The objective of the Pediatric BHIP fellowship is to prepare newly graduated psychologists to work in the primary care setting, treating children across the pediatric lifespan (infants, toddlers, children, adolescents, and emerging adults) within underserved communities. Fellows provide face-to-face and telehealth behavioral health services in our primary care clinics three days per week, with an additional two days focused on training and research.

Fellows are trained to conduct warm handoffs and use motivational interviewing, problem-focused assessment, and brief evidence-based intervention to address depression, anxiety, ADHD/disruptive behaviors, and trauma. Additionally, fellows are trained to provide developmental and behavioral consultation to families of infants and toddlers, through our attachment-based and trauma-informed HealthySteps program. Research projects involve supporting existing BHIP writing and dissemination efforts. Additional responsibilities include didactics, team meetings, and training psychology assistants, medical students, and pediatric residents. Fellows are encouraged to participate in our Staff Emotional Support (SES) team to respond to incidents of work-related trauma and stress, promoting the wellness of Montefiore staff and associates.

REQUIRED: Completion of an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical, counseling, or school psychology. Successful candidates will have completed their internship and all degree requirements by the start of fellowship.
