The Psychology program at SUNY Purchase invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning Fall 2022.

Our department values inclusive research and teaching as seen through our commitment to student-faculty mentorship and in our research-focused curriculum. We welcome candidates from all areas. Special consideration will be given to those whose areas of specialization supplement the current strengths of the Department, such as those who conduct basic or applied research in clinical psychology, community psychology, school psychology, the affective sciences, child development, aging (or research related to senior populations), education, social work, or other areas. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research and teaching take intersectional approaches, engaging with issues of race, culture, gender, class, and/or equity. The ideal candidate would be able to contribute to the Global Black Studies minor or the Latin American, Caribbean, and Latinx Studies major. The successful candidate will be prepared to maintain an active research lab with groups of undergraduate students from various backgrounds.

The faculty teaching load is typically 6 courses per year, one course of which is the supervision of year-long student research projects. The remaining five courses taught per year may include required courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods and Statistics) and courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. Purchase College is a primarily undergraduate, Hispanic-serving institution located 25 miles north of New York City. Purchase is ranked by US News in the Top 10 public US liberal arts colleges and is among the Best 376 Colleges by Princeton Review.
