We are looking to hire a School-Based Consultant in the Ohio University Center for Intervention Research in Schools (CIRS)

Consultants can work from either the CIRS Columbus or Athens office, with flexibility for some remote work.

Julie S. Owens, Ph.D., Co-Director of the Center for Intervention Research in Schools (www.oucirs.org) invites individuals with experience engaging in problem-solving consultation with teachers and supporting school professionals’ use of culturally-sensitive and equitable positive behavioral support strategies to apply for the position.

The School-Based Consultant will play a leadership role in a project funded by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) evaluating novel ways to leverage interactive technologies and training of school-based personnel to support teachers use of culturally-sensitive and equitable positive behavioral support strategies.

The School-Based Consultant will serve as a full-time consultant to school mental health staff (e.g., school psychologists, school counselors, intervention specialists) in elementary schools. Job duties include developing partnerships with school personnel and training those professionals in the problem-solving consultation with teachers, motivational interviewing techniques, and use of culturally-sensitive and equitable positive behavioral support strategies. The Associate will also assist the team with the refinement of training procedures and measurement tools to assess project outcomes.

Doctoral-level candidates will have the option to obtain hours toward licensure in psychology and mentoring to pursue a tenure-track position in academia, if desired.

Those interested in applying should have, at a minimum, a Master’s degree in clinical, educational, or developmental psychology, school psychology, education, public health, or related discipline by the position start date. The projected start date for this position can be as early as April 1, but no later than July 1, 2022. The School-Based Consultant will work in elementary schools in Southeastern and/or Central Ohio. Travel reimbursement to schools provided in accordance with Ohio University policy.
