We have an opening for a postdoctoral fellow in our School Based Integrated Primary Care Program at the Mailman Center for Child Development at the University of Miami School of Medicine.  This position will be part of our School Health Initiative and consist of a combination of clinical and research responsibilities. The primary focus will be on a  NIH COVID testing and vaccine confidence intervention in public school settings. The School Health Initiative (SHI) is a project designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to children in some of Miami’s severely under-resourced communities. SHI now operates in nine schools, providing care to over 12,000 children per year, regardless of their ability to pay. At our clinics, housed inside schools in at-risk Miami communities, we offer free primary health care to students on site and facilitate access to specialists at the University of Miami, including psychological interventions.

The fellow’s time will be split between research and clinical activities. Clinically, the fellow will engage in outpatient therapy, consultation-liaison, and group therapy. This is not an assessment position. This person will also supervise trainees. The fellow will work closely our interdisciplinary team which includes pediatric health psychologists, pediatricians, nurses, social workers, and patient navigators. Common presenting problems include anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, and lack of adherence to medical regimen. Research opportunities will focus on health disparities, qualitative community based participatory research, and COVID vaccine confidence. Responsibilities include grant writing, data management, statistical analyses, qualitative data analyses, and manuscript writing. Position start date is flexible and the majority of effort will be in person on school clinic campuses in Miami-Dade.  Qualified individuals with an APA-approved Ph.D. and internship in child clinical or pediatric health psychology are encouraged to apply. E-mail inquiries may be directed to Elizabeth Pulgaron, PhD (epulgaron@med.miami.edu).  Please provide a letter of interest, CV, and letters of recommendation. The University of Miami is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.

The Research Associate will work primarily on the NIH grant described above. Responsibilities include engaging community stakeholders, participant recruitment, and data management. This is a community-based intervention study at Miami Dade County Public Schools. A flexible schedule and willingness to commute to various school sites is required. Start date is flexible and available as early as May 2022. Please email inquiries to Elizabeth Pulgaron, epulgaron@med.miami.edu.
