The Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Special Education at Michigan State University is excited to announce a full-time, clinical faculty (fixed-term) position within the School Psychology program area. This is a full-time, renewable, 12-month position. The selected individual will serve as the Director of Clinical Training within the School Psychology program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to school psychology. The MSU School Psychology program includes a robust group of 7 full-time, tenure-track and 1 full-time clinical faculty members. Programs include the APA-accredited doctoral program and NASP approved EdS program.

The School Psychology Program at Michigan State University prepares school psychologists to work with educators, children, youth, and families to promote individuals’ learning and development across multiple settings. Commitment to the provision of school and community-based mental health services across diverse contexts and with diverse learners is a top priority.
The primary responsibilities of the individual will include:
- Directing clinical training within the School Psychology program. The DCT role includes:
- Oversight of doctoral internship preparation and the associated course sequence, with mentoring and teaching responsibilities across the fall, spring, and summer semesters.
- Service as the primary contact person within the program for the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC) internship program.
- Building and maintaining relationships with field-based supervisors and securing practicum placements for educational specialist and doctoral students within the School Psychology program. Necessary time and support for establishing a professional network will be provided as needed.
- Collaborating with school psychology faculty in graduate clinical training.
- Working with the Program Director to support accountability for training goals and outcomes associated with APA accreditation and NASP approval.
- Maintaining a teaching load of approximately 4-5 courses per year (average of 1-3 courses per semester in fall, spring, and summer).
- Providing mentorship to students, engaging in service to the school psychology programs, the CEPSE department and College of Education, and larger community and profession.
Successful candidates will demonstrate expertise in assessment, prevention and intervention, and collaboration and consultation within and outside of schools. Required Degree
Doctorate -School Psychology
Minimum Requirements
- Earned doctorate in School Psychology from an APA-accredited program
- Licensed psychologist in Michigan (or license-eligible)
- Experience mentoring students and/or more junior professionals
- Experience with undergraduate and/or graduate-level teaching
- Effective oral, written, and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to collegiality and effective collaboration with other faculty within the School Psychology program, CEPSE Department, and College of Education.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supervising school psychology practicum students and/or interns
- Experience completing and/or advising students through the APPIC Match process
- Credentialed as a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP)
- Expertise in all or some of the following: social justice, multiculturalism, biological bases of behavior, and clinical case conceptualization
- Experience practicing psychology in school and non-school settings
