The University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for three Assistant Professor positions beginning August, 2023.  The faculty members will teach in the Health Service Psychology PsyD (Combined Clinical and School Psychology) Program and the Clinical Psychology Master’s Program or School Psychology Specialist Program. The PsyD program has an integrated Clinical/School emphasis in coursework, practica, and research, and a strong focus on evidence-based clinical practice. The PsyD program began in 2016 and has been APA- accredited on contingency since April 2019. The PsyD, Clinical Psychology, and School Psychology Programs are housed within the Department of Clinical, Health, and Applied Sciences, which provides opportunities for collaboration with a range of related disciplines.

Appointment is at the Assistant Professor level. The eligible candidate needs to have earned a doctorate in clinical or school psychology (or combined program) from an APA-accredited program.  They also need to have psychology licensure (Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Specialist in School Psychology) or license-eligibility.

Responsibilities will include teaching two courses per semester (fall and spring) as well as student advising and participation on college, program and departmental committees. Preference will be given to applicants with evidence of or potential for teaching excellence across a wide range of psychology courses. Those with emphases related to Multicultural Competence, Supervision, Psychopathology, Cognitive/Affective Psychology, Adult Behavior Medicine, and/or Pediatric Psychology are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a productive research program with doctoral student involvement. Those with bilingual skills (especially Spanish) are encouraged to apply.

UHCL is currently a bachelors and masters granting university with select doctoral programs. Located adjacent to the NASA-Johnson Space Center, the UHCL campus is set within the scenic Armand Bayou Nature Preserve, thirty minutes from both downtown Houston and Galveston Island.
