The Department of Educational Psychology in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invites applications for one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall 2023. (ABD will be considered)

The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of a new School Psychology PhD program through research mentoring, course instruction, supervision of students’ clinical experiences (e.g., practicum and internship courses), assistance with preparation of materials for doctoral program accreditation, and chairing dissertation work. This position will also contribute to our NASP-accredited master’s program in School Psychology. The successful candidate must demonstrate their ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of diverse populations and support the University’s commitment to thrive as a Hispanic Serving Institution and a model for student success.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching;
  • Conducting an active program of research;
  • Serving on dissertation committees;
  • Advising and supervising students in field placements;
  • Seeking extramural grant funding; and
  • Providing service to the department, college, and university

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in School Psychology, Educational Psychology, or related field (ABD will be considered; degree must be completed by August 15, 2023);
  • A record of scholarly productivity and extramural funding commensurate with rank and level of experience;
  • The ability and desire to work collegially with faculty from diverse cultural backgrounds; and
  • The ability to work with, and be sensitive to, the educational needs of students from a diverse population

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate from a School Psychology program approved by NASP or accredited by the American Psychological Association;
  • Hold (or be eligible for) the Licensed Psychologist and the Licensed Specialist in School Psychology credentials through the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists;
  • Evidence of training and/or experience in foundational areas of school psychology sufficient to teach foundational coursework in school psychology (e.g., assessment, measurement, statistics, intervention);
  • A research agenda focused on service delivery related to language and/or cultural differences in measurement, consultation, advocacy, and/or intervention; and
  • Intellectual contributions and/or interest in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusive practices.
