The Department of Behavioral Psychology at Kennedy Krieger Institute is recruiting for a full time child psychologist and lead trainer. Kennedy Krieger is a premier, internationally recognized nonprofit institution affiliated with Johns Hopkins Medicine. The Institute is also a long established and highly respected APA approved Doctoral Internship training site. The Behavior Management Clinic is one of several outpatient specialty clinics based within the department of Behavioral Psychology and serves a diverse population of children from birth through 12 years of age. Our team of psychologists is dedicated to improving the lives and outcomes of children and families struggling with a wide range of clinical problems. We also seek to provide rich and varied clinical training opportunities and experiences for Doctoral Interns assigned to our rotation. We also offer a clinical research postdoctoral fellowship position in applied behavior analysis. The Behavior Management Clinic invites applications for a full-time lead trainer and staff psychologist.  This staff position is responsible for overseeing the rotation’s formal training program for doctoral-level graduate students in psychology. In addition to duties related to training and supervision, the Psychologist will also provide clinical service delivery to children and families.

Duties:

  • Determines the format, nature, and structure of formal training programs, consistent with the philosophy, objectives, and goals of the Behavior Management Clinic
  • Develops, updates, and maintains orientation and training schedule
  • Maintains knowledge of best practices related to training in psychology
  • Oversees the recruitment process which includes yearly review of applications, open houses, and interviews
  • Coordinates assignment of training team supervisors to intern trainings and observations
  • Collaborates with Department administrative team to schedule intakes for incoming interns
  • Provides clinical supervision to interns
  • Coordinates monthly peer supervision training
  • Provides onsite support to trainees for routine and emergent consultation
  • Manages the acquisition, distribution, and tracking of training supplies and equipment
  • Serves as an active member of the Department’s Training Committee
  • Maintains a clinical caseload to provide direct clinical services

Qualifications:

Education and Training

  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or School Psychology from an APA-accredited doctoral program
  • Internship from an APA-accredited program
  • Postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical child psychology
  • Training and experience in applied behavior analysis, cognitive behavioral therapy, child psychology, and developmental psychology
  • Training and experience providing family based care and behavioral parent training
  • Training in and commitment to the delivery of culturally responsive services to children and families

Licenses, Certifications:

  • Licensure or license eligible in Maryland required
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst a plus
  • PCIT certified therapist or interest in PCIT training and certification desirable

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience applying behavioral and cognitive behavioral methods with children and families. May consider applicants with just one year of fellowship training if a particularly good fit
  • Experience working with a diverse patient population
  • Consultation with professionals from other disciplines, especially developmental and general pediatric physicians and other mental health providers
  • Knowledge of early childhood development, including common screening for developmental and social-emotional/behavioral concerns
  • Early intervention and prevention experience
  • Treatment of both externalizing and internalizing disorders
  • School consultation knowledge and experience a plus
