Currently, divisions are planning for in-person programming with an option for virtual posters and we want to showcase your expertise.

Proposals are encouraged in all areas. We are especially interested in proposals focused on transformative psychological practice in the schools such as trauma informed care, positive psychology or wellness interventions, and culturally responsive services. Learn more about proposals here.

  • New to APA this year is a special call for IMPACT ProgramsThe topics selected for APA 2023 are: “Aggression and Violence” and “Looking forward: The Intersection of Psychology and Technology.” The goal of IMPACT programming is to provide a platform for showcasing work being conducted on the same topic across the field of psychology. The deadline for these will be Monday, November 21, 2022. Acceptance decisions will be issued prior to the January 10 division proposal submission deadline. Abstracts that are not selected for IMPACT programming will still be eligible for submission to APA 2023 division-based programming.
  • Division Proposals – Due January 10, 2023 at 5:00pm ET
    • We plan to offer symposia, critical conversations, and posters.

Symposia 2.0: Symposia are focused sessions in which multiple speakers present information related to a unifying topic that is viewed to be a significant common theme, issue, or question. The Symposia 2.0 session format should include an introduction to the topic by an expert, someone who can set context and offer background for why the session topic is important. This can be the chairperson. Speakers then give their presentations, which are followed by an exchange of ideas and discussion between the audience and speakers.

Critical Conversations: Critical Conversations (formerly called Discussions) are designed to support informed conversations between presenters and audience members. The chair should act as a moderator to ensure that the bulk of the time in the discussion portion is spent in conversation with the audience.

      Poster
: Present research findings, new ideas, innovations, and advances in the profession may be shared with as many individuals as possible. Poster sessions allow presenters and attendees to engage in extended discussions regarding the author’s presentation that is in an illustrated format on a poster board
